PARALLEL

Carmi's Thematic Challenge this week is Parallel.

The snowy picture was taken on new Year's Eve last year, when the snow brought everyone who owned anything approaching a sledge out to the hill in the Park.

The snow was soon trampled and sledged on, and I was early enough to find some tracks on virgin snow, and managed to keep the dog out of the way while I took the photo!

VERTICAL

Carmi's Thematic Challenge this week is VERTTICAL

I loved the pattern made by this security grille against a door. Definitely vertical!

Whereas this amused me greatly. The ladder was heavily painted over in white against part of the "Ocean Countess" cruise liner, with strict instructions not to use it.

What was it there for, then?

ROUGH

Carmi's Photographic challenge this week is ROUGH

A really rough day off the north of Scotland, taken through our cabin window on a cruise holiday last year! The storm force 9 winds lasted so long, and the ship pitched and rolled so much, that many people had a really rough time of it!

And just to show how much the ship was pitching and rolling, this is a pic of the swimming pool on board!

But this one was taken on a peaceful summer day! The silvery grey of the wood and bark grabbed my attention. It is almost like a black and white photo - but it isn't!

WELL AGED !

Carmi's Thematic Challenge this week is "Well Aged" I decided you couldn't get much more aged than 5000 years old! This is a Bronze Age burial mound on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. It feels quite weird to stand where people stood to bury their dead all that time ago.

These old garden tools are quite another thing! I love the way their handles have got a gorgeous patina from years of use. And they are just as good today as they were then. And I bet if I used them and looked after them carefully, they would outlast any new tool!

GOT THE BLUES !

This is a very old folding chair, definitely decrepit and sad. Pity, as it was very handy for sitting on at the end of the garden for a bit of peace and quiet!

"They've left me here, guarding this silly knapsack, when all I want is a good long drink and a bit of a proper lie down. All this rushing about on holiday is no good for a dog"

The Doggy Blues?

VEHICULAR

Carmi's Subject for this week's challenge is Vehicular

I'm not good on the makes of cars, but I loved the lines of this sleek something waiting for a bridal party outside our Town Hall

HAPPINESS IS....

Carmi's Challenge this week is Happiness is.....

Forget the stresses of family life, my inability to get out and walk on the hills, happiness now for me is my exceedingly comfortable chair, and a pile of books!

Planning, dreaming and just getting lost in a good detective novel (not the one shown, it was too gory for my taste!)

I've got plenty more books around, and there's always Amazon, and our Library.

What more could a woman want??
