Carmi has chosen FAITH as his photographic challenge this week. I thought these old gravestones in the grounds of Cartmel Priory in Cumbria reflected the deep faith of our forefathers (and foremothers!) Rather rushed to choose something, as we are off on our holidays on Friday. But do leave me some comments to read when we come back!

Older graveyards always make for such interesting shots.

When I lived in Mass, I did gravestone rubbings of the local graveyards. Great picture of the cemetery!

I agree - old graveyards are always intriguing and provide great opportunities for photos.

Hope you have a lovely holiday!

As a child I really feared places like this. But thankfully that notion disappeared. I always receive such a feel of grace visiting these places, even if I don't know a soul who's buried there, but just walking amongst it all you get to know them, just by the words of loved ones!

What has always fascinated me about gravestones is the stories they tell. often from long again. With the trend to cremation this will be a form of history that will eventually disappear.

What a powerful shot, Gilly, and such a great choice for this week's theme. Cemeteries have always been such reverent places for me to stroll with a camera. I always seem to find new ways to experience and shoot them - this photo inspires me to return.

I do hope you're having a wonderful holiday. The new theme, straight lines, goes up this eve...I hope you return, refreshed, with lots of great pics to share!
