LIGHTS UP!

Carmi's Photographic Challenge this week is LIGHTS UP

The above incredible ceiling (complete with lights) is the Tourist Information Bureau at Bergen, Norway. I spent a lot of the time there craning my neck to see the painting work, plus there were murals on all the walls. Really fantastic place!

And the second photo is very much Lights Up! as on that occasion the light never went off! Its the Midnight Sun, seen (exactly at midnight) at North Cape, Norway. Unfortunately there were a few clouds around, but I am sure this photo will convince you of the sun remaining above the horizon at midnight. You can just see the sunlight on the water where the mountains make a U.

Of course, the corollary is that in the winter the sun is never seen, and although I loved the Arctic I don't think I would fancy an Arctic winter!

At last I can say what I've wanted to ever since I started with Carmi's Thematic Photographic!

Bergen - Been there; seen that!

I never made it to the North Cape though.

The tourist info office in our town is a nondescript concrete brick box on a busy, nondescript street. I think we should send some of our town planners to Norway for a little architectural re-education :)
