Cruise ships seem to be getting bigger every year. Ours from a couple of years ago is by no means the biggest now! This is the ship at Stavanger, Norway, completely dwarfing the surrounding houses. Bizarre, really!
The next one is a "giant's sofa" at Tittesworth Reservoir and surroundings in Staffordshire - looks comfortable enough!!
A Monument in Anglesey, Wales. That is Mr.G right at the top!
A replica ship at the Nautical Museum in Barcelona, Spain. It is a new museum, only just open. But it was cool and shaded - just what we needed!
It occurs to me that you might have seen all these photographs before. If so, sorry! But I'm not much of a photographer of large things!!!

Wow, the way that ship is sitting there, it almost appears too big doesn't it. All of your large structures are wonderful, and that second one is probably my favorite!
Ships, they are getting so big! I love the big sofa and the tall ship in Spain is wonderful. Great representation of the theme, lots of large structures that are not buildings. Thanks Gilly
Having lived in Stavanger for 10 years I can appreciate the scale of that ship. The QEII was tje biggest I saw there.
Ir still amazes me that those cruise ships don't just fall over.
I'll beg to differ: you're a great photographer of things of all sizes!
Having just watched the salvage crews haul the Costa Concordia off of the rocks, I've developed a new appreciation for the immense size of today's cruise ships. They are staggering in their scale - hard to believe that they carry more people than many of the cities that I cycle through. It literally blows my mind. In a good way :)
Still, it's the replica ship that took my breath away. I guess for its era, it was just as amazing. Today, it still is.
So you really do have giants in England, just like in the Hobbit!!!
